Six 750 ml bottles: three San Limello Spritz and three Hibiscus Spritz, both pre-mixed with dealcoholized sparkling Riesling from the Leitz winery.

The Spritz DUO combines both of the brand's ready-to-drink spritz varieties in a 6-pack case. No need to measure or add anything – just chill the bottle, open it, and pour. One case provides about thirty glasses.

Citrusy, floral, and fresh in rotation

The two varieties head in different directions, which is exactly why they complement each other so well on a table.

The San Limello Spritz is the brighter of the two. Lemon infusion and lime meet the minerality of Riesling; the result remains dry and lean – an aperitif for the early evening.

The Hibiscus Spritz is the darker one. Hibiscus blossoms turn it garnet red and add a delicate, tart floral note, along with rosemary and bitter orange. A surprising note of smoke appears on the finish.

Both share the same foundation. At 50%, half the bottle consists of dealcoholized wine, which makes all the difference compared to sweetened aperitif sodas – here, the wine provides the structure, not the sugar.

If you try both one after the other, you'll quickly realize which one you prefer for the evening. The Limello suits a bright summer evening on the balcony, while the Hibiscus is better suited for later hours, when it gets darker and the food is heartier.

A case for the whole season

This bundle is intended as a supply. If you regularly have guests in the summer, you'll save yourself the constant chore of buying individual bottles – and you'll always have something chilled on hand for spontaneous visits.

Serve ice-cold in a wine glass with plenty of ice, at about 8 degrees Celsius. At room temperature, both varieties lose their tension, which is why the bottles should be in the fridge in good time. You hardly need any garnish – a slice of lemon for the Limello, or a sprig of rosemary or a few berries for the Hibiscus, is enough.

On the table, the two together cover many preferences. The Limello goes well with salmon and Asian cuisine, while the Hibiscus pairs with sushi, feta, or tarte flambée. Anyone who puts both out for guests gives them a choice without having to mix anything themselves.

Opened bottles should be kept in the refrigerator and consumed within 2 to 3 days, otherwise the carbonation will be lost. Unopened, they keep well for 2 years, which is why a case can easily last throughout the season.

Convenience without cutting corners

Pre-mixed drinks have a bad reputation, and usually with good reason. They save effort by skimping on ingredients.

Here, it's the other way around. For the wine base, Christina Jagla collaborates with Johannes Leitz, whose Rheingau winery is one of the pioneers of dealcoholized wine. They first create a real wine, from which the alcohol is then removed – a significantly more complex process than simply blending grape juice.

The aperitif bases come from the Jagla family's apothecary tradition, having prepared herbs and blossoms for generations in their Park-Apotheke in the Luisenviertel district of Wuppertal. Her father Helmut still runs the establishment today.

The effort is therefore invested where you cannot see it on the bottle. In the end, only the opening is convenient – everything before that, from the wine to the floral extract, requires the same work as the products you mix yourself.

The herbal specialties were meant to reach beyond the Bergisches Land region, says Christina Jagla about her move to Berlin at the end of 2015. Anyone who prefers to dose the bases themselves can find them in the Aperitif Trio.
