Gold is the color of celebration, the crown, and the ripe mirabelle plum. In our Gold color world, you will find Aceto Balsamico IGP Gold, champagne alternatives, cocoa confectionery in a golden bag, white truffle salt, duck pâté, gold-medal chocolate, and olive oil from Andalusia—all in a festive golden hue.
Gold is the warmest of all metallic colors—between brass and honey, between tinsel and ripe mirabelle juice. It stands for celebration, value, and abundance. When you open our Gold category, you are entering a space for festive hours: New Year's Eve, weddings, milestone birthdays, Christmas Eve.
Gold is the color of ancient treasures and new awards. Crowns are made of gold, medals are made of gold, and every wedding cake is adorned with gold leaf.
In color psychology, it stands for value, prosperity, and festivity. The Egyptians called it "the flesh of the gods," and in the Middle Ages, the halos of icons shone in gold leaf. Today, we encounter gold in more subtle quantities: as a label on a balsamic vinegar bottle, as an embossing on a chocolate bar, as a swing-top closure on an ice wine bottle.
For us, gold is for the hours that stand out from everyday life. The moment the glass is raised. The first bite on an anniversary.
Our golden world gathers delicacies from Italy, France, Spain, Denmark, Germany, and South Tyrol—all with a golden glow.
From Italy, the Fattoria Estense Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP Gold—aged in seven wooden barrels, dense and sweet-and-sour in the glass. Plus, the TartufLanghe Truffle Salt with White Truffle from Piedmont and the Truffle Oil with White Truffle. From Provence, the Beauharnais Duck Pâté with Orange.
From France, the Mathez Truffle Fantaisie Caramel and several Bonnat bars: the Selva Maya 75% Gold Winner 2016, the Lait au Praliné Noisettes 55%, and the Lait au Praliné Amandes 55%. From Germany, the Jörg Geiger Champagne Roasted Pear, the Prisecco Mirabelle Gold, and the Rübbelberg Egg Liqueur.
Gold has many tones: bright gold leaf, warm honey gold, reddish copper gold, deep yellow brick gold.
For an aperitif, the bright gold: a glass of Champagne Roasted Pear—non-alcoholic, sparkling, with fine roasted pear notes. For the main course, warm gold: truffle oil over tagliatelle with butter and Parmesan, a pinch of truffle salt on top—simply delicious.
For dessert, deep yellow gold: a few drops of Aceto Balsamico IGP Gold over vanilla ice cream, accompanied by Goufrais cocoa confectionery or a bar of Bonnat Selva Maya 75%. That completes the feast.
Behind every golden label is a manufacturer with a history—twelve producers define our Gold world.
The Cavalli family has run the Fattoria Estense in Modena since 1891—their Aceto Balsamico Gold matures for twelve years in seven different wooden barrels (oak, chestnut, juniper, ash, cherry, mulberry, and locust). Each wood imparts a different note. Bravo. Stéphane Bonnat in Voiron has been roasting his own cocoa since 1884—his Selva Maya won the gold medal at the International Chocolate Awards in 2016.
At TartufLanghe in Alba, the Montanaro family has been digging for white and black truffles since 1968—their truffle oil is flavored with real Piedmont truffle pieces, not synthetic oil. Jörg Geiger in Schlat on the Swabian Alb created the Prisecco Mirabelle Gold from old mirabelle varieties from orchard meadows—a cuvée of two dozen mirabelle varieties, sparkling, non-alcoholic.
And in Modena, the Giusti family has run the Acetaia Giuseppe Giusti since 1605—their Condimento Bianco is the white sister to the golden balsamic. The Kohl family in Unterinn has been pressing apple juices for six generations—the Bergapfelsaft Jonagold is a single-variety juice, not a blend, but pure Jonagold.
Golden delicacies play with life's great moments. New Year's Eve: a glass of Champagne Roasted Pear, accompanied by a few blinis with Fangst cockles. For a wedding: duck pâté with orange on baguette, a dollop of fig mustard, a glass of Prisecco Mirabelle Gold.
For an anniversary, we like things simple and concentrated: a bar of Bonnat Lait au Praliné Noisettes 55%, an espresso, and an hour of time. Or: Castillo de Canena Picual olive oil on a piece of toasted country bread, a pinch of truffle salt—a supper that tastes like a celebration.
For a milestone birthday: a plate of D. Barbero Gianduiotti from Piedmont, accompanied by a glass of Rübbelberg egg liqueur or a bowl of Tiroler Edle Edelkaramell. That is how to celebrate.
A golden box is a gift for something extraordinary. For a silver wedding anniversary, the great-aunt's hundredth birthday, or a corporate champagne reception.
We are happy to assemble a gift for you: a bottle of Prisecco Mirabelle Gold, an Aceto Balsamico IGP Gold, a Bonnat Selva Maya gold winner, a truffle salt with white truffle, and Goufrais cocoa confectionery in a gold bag. A Portus Cale Gold & Blue scented candle for the gift table rounds off the box—it burns an hour longer if the evening is meant to be a long one.
