Weingut Weedenborn – Elegance from Rheinhessen
The Weingut Weedenborn is located in Monzernheim in Rheinhessen and represents elegance and excitement in winemaking. The small mountain community is situated on one of the highest elevations in Rheinhessen, above the top Westhofen sites of Kirschspiel and Moorstein. On the 22 hectares of family-owned vineyards, white Burgundy varieties, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc grow on calcareous marl and loess-loam soils. Sauvignon Blanc occupies the most space with 35% of the vineyard area, as it is the favorite variety of winemaker Gesine Roll, who took over the winery from her parents almost 10 years ago. Her elegant, puristic wines are produced traditionally and close to nature, and develop magnificently with a little maturity.
Weingut Weedenborn – Sauvignon Blanc
For the winemaker, wine is a way of life, having learned to live (and work) in rhythm with nature since childhood, as her parents and grandparents also made wine in Monzernheim. Gesine Roll has made a name for herself particularly with her Sauvignon Blancs, which are among the best in Germany, but also with her Chardonnay. The higher-lying vineyards with cool night winds are very conducive to her winemaking style: elegant wines, rather subtle than loud, with enormous development potential.
