Kühling Gillot - Winery from Bodenheim
The Kühling Gillot winery from Bodenheim in Rheinhessen, which is one of Germany's top wineries, was once created by the marriage of Carolin's parents and has been run jointly by Carolin and her husband Hans Oliver Spanier since 2006. Organic farming, biodynamic elements, dry-farming without artificial irrigation, manual grape harvesting, natural fermentation, long lees aging, and large wooden barrels are some keywords of Kühling Gillot's artisanal approach. The vines are located in prime sites along the Rhine terrace, on steep and extremely steep slopes on warm soils in the Rote Hang between Bodenheim, Nierstein, and Oppenheim. The red slate soil, interspersed with clay, allows the grapes to ripen fully. This brings exotic fruit notes and a certain richness to the early-accessible wines.
Kühling Gillot - Wine Tradition at the Highest Level
In recent years, the traditional VDP winery has caused a sensation in a positive way with the uncompromisingly high quality of its wines and has received the highest recognition with awards such as "Winemaker of the Year" in 2015 from the Vinum Weinguide and in 2018 from the Eichelmann Wine Guide. The Kühling Gillot winery is among the best and most recognized wineries in Germany, with four grapes in the Gault-Millau and countless other prizes and awards.
