Vibrantly green pistachio spread from Hamburg's copper kettle

Brandgut Peacetazie is a crunchy, vegan pistachio spread made from approx. 45% roasted pistachios with a hint of sea salt – handmade in a copper kettle in Hamburg-Ottensen. With around 45% nuts, it is one of the nuttiest pistachio spreads on the market, intensely green, spicy-resinous, and with a fine crunch.

Peacetazie pistachio spread from Brandgut is a crunchy spread made from roasted pistachios, in a 160g jar from Hamburg-Ottensen. With around 45% pistachios, a little sugar, a small amount of sunflower oil, a hint of sea salt, and a pinch of vanilla sugar, only 5 ingredients go into the jar – no palm oil, no emulsifiers, no artificial flavors. The name Peacetazie is a play on words combining "peace" and "Pistazie" (pistachio) – and it suits the peacefully green color and the relaxed enjoyment of this spread.

Vibrant green, spicy-nutty, and with elegant sweetness

Upon opening the jar, a typical pistachio aroma rises – spicy, slightly resinous, with a fine sweetness reminiscent of Sicilian gelato. The spread has a rich, green tone, significantly stronger than industrial pistachio spreads with only 15 or 20 percent nut content. A little oil may separate and settle on top – this is part of the Brandgut concept, as no emulsifiers artificially hold the spread together. Just stir vigorously with a spoon, and it's ready.

On the tongue, Peacetazie begins with a delicate sweetness, then comes the full pistachio body with its spicy-nutty notes, and finally, the sea salt distinctly enhances the green – aromatic, spicy, and with elegant depth. The crunch gathers at the bottom: small caramelized pistachio pieces that give the spread its bite. Pistachio is the most noble nut in the Brandgut family, and the high proportion of around 45% is a rarity in this price range.

We love it with vanilla ice cream, cannoli, and on warm brioche

The pistachio spread is the most noble variety in the Brandgut family – and it deserves equally special accompaniments. It's a classic with vanilla ice cream: a generous dollop of Peacetazie on three scoops, a few coarsely chopped pistachio kernels on top, and you have a dessert that will delight guests even on a Sunday evening. It's also a delight on warm brioche or croissants.

We also like Peacetazie as a filling for Sicilian cannoli, stirred into panna cotta, or as a creamy base for a pistachio tiramisu. It works wonderfully in baking: in madeleines, as a topping on a lemon cake, or in a pistachio Gugelhupf. For summer, we recommend stirring it into Sicilian granita – a pistachio granita in five minutes. The pistachio trend with Dubai chocolate and pistachio latte can also be easily made at home with Peacetazie.

Our tip for aperitif lovers: spread Peacetazie with fresh goat cheese on crispy baguette, add a drop of good honey – as a green and white crostino with white wine, it's a real eye-catcher. You can find more Brandgut ideas with the roasted Haselgenuss, the classic Mandelikat, and the mild Cashjuhu.

Behind Brandgut are Meike Grosch and Daniel Thaung from Hamburg. The two worked together for almost 10 years in a Hamburg advertising agency before taking the plunge in 2014 and founding their own creative kitchen. For Peacetazie, the pistachios are caramelized with sugar, vanilla sugar, and sea salt in a copper kettle, then finely ground and processed into a crunchy spread. The pistachio content of around 45% is remarkably high for a pistachio spread in this price range.

All vegan, without additives, without palm oil, handmade in Hamburg-Ottensen. The Brandgut family now includes six varieties – besides Peacetazie, there's also Mandelikat, Haselgenuss, Cashjuhu, Erdnussmuss, and YES, Pe Can. You can find them all in our Brandgut collection.
