Briosa Gourmet was founded in 1912 in Figuera da Foz, a small port town between Porto and Lisbon. This family business with a long tradition in canned fish production places particular emphasis on the quality and freshness of its preserved sardines. It is no coincidence that the production facility is ideally located directly at the fishing port, where the fish can be delivered fresh daily without long transport routes. Diligent hands clean the sardines and skillfully pack them into cans with quick movements before they are refined with olive oil, then sealed and preserved with steam. The sardines are also wrapped in beautiful paper with patterns of the typical Portuguese Azulejo tiles, a task skillfully and quickly performed by women. This is how the finest canned fish from Portugal are created.
