Briosa Gourmet was founded in 1912 in Figuera da Foz, a small port town between Porto and Lisbon.

The family business, with its long tradition in canned fish production, places particular emphasis on the quality and freshness of its canned sardines. It's no coincidence that the production facility is ideally located directly at the fishing port, where fresh fish can be delivered daily without long transport routes. Diligent hands clean the sardines and deftly pack them into cans with quick movements before they are refined with olive oil, then canned and preserved under steam. Even the wrapping in pretty paper with patterns of the Azulejo tiles so typical of Portugal is skillfully and quickly done by women's hands. This is how the finest canned fish from Portugal are made.
