Fangst Brisling No. 4 are fine, dried Baltic Sea sprats from the Nordic Sea. This small, oily fish, found in large numbers in the Scandinavian and Baltic Seas, is processed in Copenhagen, the Danish capital. Hand-cleaned, it is first salted and dried before being preserved in cold-pressed rapeseed oil from the island of Bornholm, together with cloves and allspice, and canned in small tins. The drying process intensifies the fish's aroma. As the Nordic version of the sardine, Brisling is a truly local product that Fangst founders Martin, Rasmus, and Mikkel are rightly proud of.

Brisling – The Rediscovery of the Sprat

The founders of Fangst have been familiar with Scandinavian food culture since childhood. Martin, who grew up in a family of biologists, birdwatchers, and fish farmers, wants to contribute to how good food can be made from nature's resources, such as the rediscovery of sprat as a food fish. Rasmus's home is the mussel beds of the Ise and Roskilde fjords; even as a child, he wanted to know more about edible nature, flora, and fauna. Mikkel, an experienced chef and product developer, is responsible for the recipes of the first Fangst canned fish, with his broad knowledge of Nordic ingredients and processing methods.

Together, they want to bring Brisling, Latin: Sprattus sprattus, back to the plates of Danes and the steadily growing fan community of canned fish lovers.
