Wool, Virgin Wool, or Lambswool – What's the Difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable resource. This blanket is made from 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from the very first shearing of a sheep or lamb, within the first 6 months of its life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is also obtained from living sheep, usually in spring, ideally in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and fluffed before it is beautifully hazelnut-brown dyed and spun into yarn. The Klippan Knut blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to ensure that the blanket feels soft; for this, the lambswool is extra pre-combed, however, this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and especially at the beginning, the blanket sheds a little.
