Beauharnais – Chestnut Honey

The Beauharnais Chestnut Honey has a dark, tart scent, it is strong and intense in aroma and has slightly bitter notes. The color of the Miel de Chataignier, honey from France, is a rich brown. The consistency is creamy to liquid.

Especially in the Pyrenees, there are still lush chestnut forests in France. A chestnut tree can grow quite large, even majestic. In summer, between June and July, it blooms profusely. The sprawling branches create a tree crown, over which the white blossoms are distributed. Here there is plenty of yellow pollen and nectar for the bees and for the honey that is extracted from it. The chestnut honey has a very characteristic and strong, as well as slightly spicy-aromatic scent. Beauharnais buys this single-variety honey from France in large quantities and bottles it for us in 250g jars.

If it plays a role in your purchasing decision whether a honey is rather liquid or creamy, we would like to give you the following information: Even if the product photo shows honey with a liquid consistency, honey can crystallize at any time. This is a quality feature for honey, as it shows that it is untreated, i.e. not heat-treated, and has a purely natural composition. Honey with a high glucose content crystallizes more readily than honey with a high fructose content. Therefore, the crystallization of honey is not a reason for complaint, but depends on the natural composition of the sugar types. To liquefy the honey again, place the closed jar for 5-10 minutes in a pot with approx. 40 degrees warm water, then stir the honey until the sugar crystals have dissolved. This way you can use liquid honey again.
