Discover the Styrian Delicacy: Fink's Rowanberries in Hearty Syrup

The Fink's Rowanberries are a unique specialty that reflects the local ties of Bettina and Hans Peter Fink, who produce this wonderful product in their Fink's Delikatessenmanufaktur. The wild-grown Fink's Rowanberries are preserved in a hearty syrup containing rowanberry brandy. Lightly warmed, their aromatic taste with a subtle almond aroma pairs perfectly with venison, dark meats, meat pies, or blue cheese, bringing Austrian "Haubenküche" (gourmet cuisine) to your home.

Fink's Rowanberries – delicious taste

In early autumn, the Styrian forests glow orange-red, but it's not the foliage changing color; the berries of the Sorbus aucuparia are responsible for this burst of color. Raw, the bright orange-red rowanberries, the fruits of the mountain ash, are not poisonous as often assumed, but quite tart and bitter and inedible. However, when heated, the bitter compounds of the wild fruit transform into sorbic acid, making the fruits sweet and edible, and when prepared by Bettina Fink, in sweet syrup with a shot of rowanberry brandy, a true delight.
