Linen Napkins Eucalyptus with Branch Pattern by Linen Tales

The Linen Napkins Eucalyptus by Linen Tales are a pair of cloth napkins featuring illustrated eucalyptus branches on a light background, woven in Lithuania from European linen. The Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX certification explicitly includes the printed inks used.

Linen Napkins are cloth napkins from Linen Tales in Vilnius, which arrive as a set of two bundled with kitchen twine and, at 40 by 40 centimeters, offer enough surface area for the branches to be fully visible when laid out. Both pieces come from the same bolt of fabric and feature the same base tone.

Eucalyptus branches that turn the table into a garden

Finely drawn eucalyptus branches lie on a light background—slender stems with round leaves in muted gray-green, distributed as if just laid down. The pattern remains restrained enough to hold its own alongside patterned dinnerware, while providing the green that a vase would otherwise need to bring to the table. From two meters away, the illustration reads as a light tone; up close, you can recognize every individual leaf. On a white-set table, the pattern acts as a centerpiece.

The hem allows the pattern to run right into the corner

At the four corners, the hem is mitered and overlapped, like an envelope flap. Because this prevents bulk from building up, the illustration runs to the edge without distortion, and the square lies flat instead of rippling. Each piece is sewn in the Linen Tales studio in Vilnius, where the cutting is also done by hand. If you fold them lengthwise, you will see the leaves continue seamlessly across the fold line without looking cut off.

As a doily under a teapot or bowl

A square of linen is also useful even when no one is eating: it catches the ring under a teapot or becomes a small doily under a bowl of fruit. On the hallway dresser, it serves as a tray for keys and glasses, and in the summer, you can drape it over a cake to keep the flies away. A pattern like this handles such tasks better than a solid-colored fabric. A textile with multiple roles deserves a place in your drawer.

Two napkins, where a table setting begins

A pair is enough for a table for two, and for those who entertain guests more often, stacking several pairs in the same drawer is easy. For a larger table setting, the branches can be mixed with solid-colored linen, with the patterned piece setting the tone and the solid color complementing it. Because Linen Tales produces both versions from the same base fabric, the feel and drape match perfectly. Two pieces are the beginning, and the drawer fills itself over the years.

The pattern survives washing if you wash it cool

Wash the napkins at a maximum of 40 degrees on a delicate cycle and use a mild detergent without bleach, as bleach attacks the printed branches. Keep the spin speed below 600 RPM and air dry the pair so that the illustration remains sharp. If you want to iron, work from the reverse side while the linen is still damp. Afterward, the pattern will look as clear as it did on the day you untied the kitchen twine.

Linen Napkins Eucalyptus – Material and Dimensions

  • Origin – woven and sewn in Lithuania
  • Material – 100% linen, EUROPEAN FLAX certified
  • Testing – Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX
  • Size – 40 x 40 cm per napkin
  • Fabric weight – 185 g/m²
  • Finish – mitered hem on all four corners
  • Content – set of 2, bundled with kitchen twine
  • Color – Eucalyptus, eucalyptus branches on a light background
  • Care – machine wash 40 °C, do not use fabric softener

The light background varies slightly between batches because natural yarn never has the exact same starting shade, and the applied illustration reacts accordingly. The dish towel and the table runner by Linen Tales share the same illustrative signature, as both are created on the cutting table in the same sewing workshop.
