Spelt Grissini with Schüttelbrot – Organic from South Tyrol
The crispy Spelt Grissini with Schüttelbrot from Ultner Brot combine modern snacking with the traditional South Tyrolean specialty, Schüttelbrot. However, it's not just the combination with Schüttelbrot that makes these Italian snacks special, but also the use of spelt and "Regiokorn" – grain grown in South Tyrol. Spelt is the ancient form of wheat, but it is not suitable for industrial cultivation with high yields, which is why it is now rarely found. However, spelt is extremely tasty and has excellent baking properties.
The spelt grissini refined with Schüttelbrot are crispy breadsticks; their aromatic taste enriches every "Marende," the traditional South Tyrolean snack. You can simply munch on Spelt Grissini with Schüttelbrot between meals or serve them instead of fresh bread with dips, soups, or salads. Wrapped with South Tyrolean bacon, they are a highlight at your cocktail party or barbecue. These snacks pair well with "Kaminwurzen" (smoked sausages), mountain salami, or Alpine cheese, and also wonderfully with a glass of South Tyrolean wine or a cold beer.
Grissini are naturally fragile. When shipped via parcel service, it is almost impossible to avoid breakage. Since breakage does not affect the quality or taste of the breadsticks, we generally do not accept complaints in this regard.
Ultner – Traditional South Tyrolean Bakery
The love of baking and, by extension, of good bread is a family affair for South Tyrol's number one organic baker. The traditional bakery was founded in 1919 by Maria Pircher-Schwienbacher in St. Walburg, South Tyrol, and has been an organic bakery since 1982. For master bakers Hannes and his father Richard Schwienbacher, baking is a holistic process: the best organic ingredients from regional cultivation, traditional artisanal processing, long resting times, and baking in a stone oven are prerequisites for the best bread. When it comes to the quality and unique taste of their baked goods, they make no compromises.
For generations, Ultner Brot has been hand-baking Schüttelbrot from the best ingredients, such as homemade natural sourdough, organic rye and wheat flour from their own mill, natural rock salt, and spring water from the South Tyrolean mountains, in St. Walburg in the Ultental valley.
