Alpine Valerian – the scent of the Alps
When the slopes of the Alps glow crimson above the tree line in May and June, the flowering season of the ALPINE ROSE has begun or is approaching its peak. The heath plant known as the alpine rose—also called "Donnerrösl" or "Almrausch"—has been attributed various, sometimes contradictory, qualities by folklore: superstitious mountain hikers would cast their bouquets of alpine roses far away as a thunderstorm approached for fear of being struck by lightning. Farmers in North Tyrol, on the other hand, would nail alpine roses to the ridge beams of their farmhouses to protect them from "thunder and lightning." In the romantic language of flowers, it is the symbol of lovers. When a secret admirer brought his beloved an alpine rose, it meant "When will we see each other again?" and was meant to promise future happiness. The delicate, sweet scent of the soap is intended to evoke that incomparable feeling of first love.
Tiroler Reine – Soap Bar
Exquisite ingredients, at least 3 milling processes, and extraordinary alpine scents characterize the Tiroler Reine soaps from the Walde company. For the base substance of the soap, Tiroler Reine chose shea butter, as there is no local vegetable soap base that comes anywhere near this level of quality. The shea butter from the nuts of the shea tree comes from Burkina Faso in West Africa. The nuts are collected as part of a women's project founded in 2009 called ABPJF (Association Burkinabé pour la Promotion de la Jeune Fille).
The special feature of the vegetable fat in shea butter is the high level of replenishing moisture when using the soap. Every Tiroler Reine soap bar also disappears completely in the bathroom: thanks to the low water and air content, the soap does not break into small pieces when it has been used for a while, but instead remains a smooth, wonderfully fragrant little piece of soap with a fine, creamy lather until the very end.
The scents of the Tiroler Reine line are masterfully composed fragrances that are inspired by nature.
Tiroler Reine, an idea by Therese Fiegl, is a soap that incorporates the centuries-old knowledge of the Walde soap-maker family to create distinctive soaps. Each soap tells its own story, from the laundresses of Sellrain and glacier milk, to the alpine rose and love, the forget-me-not, the resilience of the birch, the alpine valerian, the cowslip as a harbinger of spring, the freshness of mountain mint, and finally elderberry, which conveys protection and comfort.
