Hay – the scent of the Alps
The scent of sun-dried HAY evokes a special feeling of well-being. Our local mountain meadows boast a wide variety of grasses, alpine flowers, and wild herbs. They guarantee alpine biodiversity, serve as a fresh paradise for livestock in summer, and a pantry for feeding during the long winter months. The hay grass is gently cut at the peak of its bloom in early June and air-dried. It is from these Tyrolean mountain meadows that the hay grasses incorporated into our solid soaps come. For grass and hay were, and still are, of great value to humans. Generations ago, people would help themselves with a handful of hay placed between a tiled stove and their back, allowing the warmth of the hay to work its magic. And hay baths were already used in the 19th century. With our soap, it's almost like lying in a hayloft and drifting off into a cozy sleep.
Tiroler Reine – Bar of Soap
Exquisite ingredients, at least 3 milling processes, and exceptional alpine scents characterize the Tiroler Reine soaps from the Walde company. As the base substance for the soap, Tiroler Reine has chosen shea butter, as there is no native plant-based soap base that comes close to its quality. The shea butter, derived from the nuts of the karité tree, comes from Burkina Faso in West Africa. The nuts are collected as part of a women's project founded in 2009 called ABPJF (Association Burkinabé pour la Promotion de la Jeune Fille).
The special thing about the vegetable fat of shea butter is its excellent re-fattening properties when using the soap. Every bar of Tiroler Reine soap is 100 percent biodegradable and disappears completely even in the bathroom: Thanks to its low water and air content, the soap does not crumble into small pieces after being used for a while, but remains a smooth, wonderfully fragrant piece of soap with a fine, creamy lather until the very end.
The scents of Tiroler Reine are masterfully composed fragrances, inspired by nature.
Tiroler Reine, an idea by Therese Fiegl, is a soap that incorporates the centuries-old knowledge of the Walde soap-making family to create distinctive soaps. Each soap tells its own story, from the Sellrain washerwomen and glacier milk, to the alpine rose and love, the forget-me-not, the resilience of the birch, the alpine valerian, to primroses as harbingers of spring, the freshness of mountain mint, and elderflower, which conveys protection and security.
