Birch – The Scent of the Alps
The BIRCH is considered the tree of life, love, feminine beauty, and happiness. With its enormous resilience, cold resistance, and reproductive capacity, it is the preeminent symbol of new beginnings, spring, and, above all, light. On February 2nd, at Candlemas, the beginning of the agricultural working year and the reawakening of light in the annual cycle are celebrated with birch branches. During the Tyrolean Corpus Christi procession, village streets are lined with young birch trunks, and in Great Britain, the start of the financial year is even traditionally aligned with the budding of the birches around April 1st. We imagined the scent of the birch, if it were to have a strong fragrance, as follows: light-footed, caressing, enlightening – just like the Tiroler Reine Birch Soap.
Tiroler Reine – Soap Bar
Exquisite ingredients, at least 3 milling processes, and extraordinary alpine fragrances distinguish the Tiroler Reine soaps from the Walde company. Tiroler Reine has chosen shea butter as the base substance for the soap, as there is no local plant-based soap base that comes even close to this quality. The shea butter from the nuts of the shea tree comes from Burkina Faso in West Africa. The nuts are collected as part of a women's project founded in 2009 called ABPJF (Association Burkinabé pour la Promotion de la Jeune Fille).
The special feature of the vegetable fat in shea butter is its excellent lipid-replenishing property. Every bar of Tiroler Reine soap disappears completely, even in the bathroom: thanks to its low water and air content, the soap does not crumble into small bits after it has been used for a while, but remains a smooth, wonderfully fragrant bar of soap with a fine, creamy lather until the very end.

Tiroler Reine, an idea by Therese Fiegl, is a soap that incorporates the centuries-old knowledge of the Walde soap-maker family to create unmistakable soaps. Each soap tells its own story, from the washerwomen of Sellrain and the glacial milk, to the alpine rose and love, the forget-me-not, the resilience of the birch, the alpine valerian, the cowslip as a harbinger of spring, the freshness of mountain mint, and finally elderberry, which conveys protection and comfort.
